Aruba: Top 5 Romantic Activities For Couples

Whenever I think of the Caribbean I think of crystal clear turquoise waters and cocktails served in pineapples on the beach. I also always envisage walking hand in hand along the water’s edge with my beloved. Do you? If so, have you considered heading to Aruba to indulge in some romantic activities with your partner? Aruba is known as ‘One Happy Island’ and is a Dutch Caribbean island located on the edge of the hurricane belt and only 15 miles north of the South American coastline meaning that you will find sunshine all year round with average temperatures of 32 degrees. Aruba’s beaches are amazingly beautiful, so much so you can find a 9-mile stretch that is award-winning. With colonial Dutch architecture to admire and a laid-back latin vibe to soak up, it really is a unique island. With so many UK tour operators offering regular package holidays to Aruba, booking your next romantic getaway couldn’t be easier. Continue reading “Aruba: Top 5 Romantic Activities For Couples”

England: An Asian Taste Sensation at Mango Tree, Harrods, London

We love Asian food, especially Thai. Our love of it stemmed from our three-week honeymoon in Thailand nearly 6 years ago and since then we’ve discovered that finding good authentic Thai food in England can be hard to come by. So when we were invited to the Mango Tree restaurant located in the Food Hall on the ground floor of Harrods, London we could not resist the opportunity to try it out. We reserved a table as we were invited, however it is important to note that the Mango Tree does not take reservations, customers are seated on a first come, first served basis and with only around 20 – 25 seats, peak times do get extremely busy, so you may have a bit of a wait. But if you read on you’ll find out it’s certainly worth it. Continue reading “England: An Asian Taste Sensation at Mango Tree, Harrods, London”

England: 5 Hidden Gems You Must Uncover in Yorkshire

We love nothing more than packing up the car and heading out on an adventure. Having driven the Great Ocean Road and up (and back down) the Sunshine Coast in Australia, the Ring Road in Iceland and even through the Devil’s Beef Tub in Scotland (yes, it’s an actual place) we have certainly seen some beautiful sights and hidden gems. However, and maybe I am biased, I think some of the most breath-taking scenery can be found in my home county of Yorkshire, England especially The Yorkshire Dales. Mr ESLT and I often venture out in the car with no planned destination and are never disappointed with what we find. Now spring has finally sprung we are eager to hit the road again and see what new places we can find. Continue reading “England: 5 Hidden Gems You Must Uncover in Yorkshire”

10 Lessons I’ve Learned from Travelling

Travelling is something I just do, it’s sort of like breathing – it’s a need, not a want. I am in a very lucky position that I have the time, the flexibility and the resources to travel. I completely understand that it is a luxury that many people cannot indulge in and for that I am grateful on a daily basis. According to Judith Thurman “Every dreamer knows that it is entirely possible to be homesick for a place you’ve never been to, perhaps more homesick than for familiar ground” – well ain’t that the truth! I’m 33 and have travelled far and wide my whole life, yet I constantly yearn to see places I’ve never seen and meet people I’ve never met – life, after all, is for living. Over the past three decades, travel has, I’m sure, changed me, I honestly do not think I would be the person I am today without it. However, I have had to change and adapt over time by learning lessons to get the most out of it. Here are 10 of the most important lessons I have learned from travelling so far. 2017 Itinerary

2016 has been a busy old year, every month we seemed to be packing up and jetting off somewhere – I’m certainly not complaining – we’ve had a great time. We also took the decision after years and years of long-haul flights to stay closer to home. As I’m not the world’s greatest flyer, I was more than happy with that decision. Also, as we both work full-time we decided that we would stretch our annual leave days as far as they would go and take shorter breaks than usual. Therefore our longest trip in 2016 was actually only seven days. Yes – great because we got to take 11 foreign trips to 11 different places during the year, however, it did sometimes feel like we had just arrived somewhere and we were packing to come home again.
