Places To Explore That Could Never Bore

Travelling can be an enlightening experience. Sure, short beach holidays are fun, as are holidays to places such as Disney World, but they don’t really give you the opportunity to explore the place you are visiting. Soaking up the sun and having fun at attractions are fantastic in their own right, but if you’re yearning for adventure then you need to spread your wings a little and explore not just the famous places and landmarks but the depths of those places too. Scotland: The Horseshoe Inn, Peebles

After spending the afternoon in Edinburgh on a freezing cold November day, we headed the short distance, 18 miles to be precise, to The Horseshoe Inn just on the outskirts of the charming Scottish village of Peebles. The Horseshoe Inn is a ‘Restaurant with Rooms’  and was originally a Blacksmith’s smiddy while the village’s former Victorian Primary School has been converted into eight individually decorated, luxuriously appointed bedrooms, making it an extremely different, dining and overnight experience. Pulling into the private car park, we had to wait a few moments before plucking up courage to run the short distance to the restaurant to check in. Scotland: Trigony House Hotel, Dumfries

Trigony House Hotel stands in the heart of the Dumfries and Galloway countryside in the South West of Scotland. Mr ESLT and I had the pleasure of staying at Trigony House Hotel the weekend before last, as we took a mini road trip through Scotland. Having read that the hotel has won many awards including – Best Country House Hotel, Best Restaurant & Best Breakfast in the South of Scotland at The Scottish Hotel awards, we were very excited for our stay and ready for a relaxing break away from it all. The History of the Trigony Country House Hotel goes back a long way, at least to the 18th Century when it was the shooting & fishing lodge for Closeburn Castle.
